The aim for Paul Pawson is to get as close to heaven as he possibly can so he can be closer to his son, Ryan.
Tragically, Ryan lost his life to meningitis aged 20.
At the funeral, they held a collection for Meningitis Now and the charity offered to support the family, with founder Steve Dryman travelling up from Gloucester to collect the money and meet the family.
“The charity has a goal and the goal is to try and ensure no child or adult dies from this terrible disease again,” said dad Paul, who will climb Mount Everest to raise money for the cause.
“Like the charity, I also have a goal in life and that is to get as close to heaven as I can so I feel Everest is the closest I’ll ever get.
“Yes, this will be the biggest challenge in my life but preparation is the key as this is all new to me.
“100 percent of the money I raise will go directly to the charity as my partner Lynsey, Ryan’s mother, and myself have funded every penny for the trip.”
As our charity for this month, Morpeth Town are delighted to raise awareness of this worthy cause and we hope our fans can contribute any amount, however small, to push Paul on!
“On a personal note, Lynsey and I find this charity very supportive and will continue to support them in the coming years,” added Paul.
“My partner Lynsey is doing her second Great North Run this year.
“She sells ice creams etc. at school fairs and holds raffles and tombolas at the local Co-Op store as well as handing out and collecting collection tins.”
