Joint Morpeth Town manager Nick Gray insisted his side have lessons to learn following a solid, if unspectacular, 2-1 win at Washington.

The Highwaymen controlled the game for large spells but Gray pointed to periods after each goal which suggested his side are not fulfilling their full potential just yet.

“We scored the first and stopped, then we scored the second and stopped again,” Gray told www.morpethtownfc.com after a Chris Reid strike and an own goal secured victory at the home of the Mechanics.

“We’ve got to learn to see games out as they scored a late goal. I don’t think there was any doubt who was going to win the game but we need to learn better habits.

“It’s disappointing to concede with the last kick of the game. We switched off and we need to learn. You don’t win things at this time of year but you’ve got to start getting into good habits and take that further so you can use it when the crunch happens.”
