Morpeth Town striker Liam Henderson has penned a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2020.

The free-scoring striker’s 26 goals last season helped The Highwaymen finish second in EBAC Northern League Division One, with 11 assists proving his all-round quality and worth to the side from Craik Park.

When interviewing the powerful forward, he said he never had any thoughts about leaving the club and it was a great feeling to get the deal sorted.

Seeking to be part of an ambitious project, Henderson is eager to make an even greater impact next season when Morpeth take on Evo-Stik North for the very first time.

“I didn’t want to leave in the first place, so it is nice to get it over the line and I am looking forward to the new season,” Henderson told the club website.

“It’s a good changing room. The lads are good and it’s a club on the up. It’s a good pitch to play on and everything is going in the right direction. There’s no point in going up a league to just settle in. I think we have got to look to get into the playoffs. Personally, I’m hopeful I can have an injury-free season and continue scoring goals. As long as the team achieves its target, I’ll be happy.”
