Dear Morpeth Town supporters, players, and staff,

My name is Jonathan Molik and I have the distinctive privilege of writing an article in each weeks match programme for the 2016/2017 season, on top of anything else covered for the website. I’ve been a freelance football writer now for three years and have covered a wide variety of football with some previous experience in the Northern League.

It isn’t easy or common for people to write about non-league football especially for me being in the states and the league getting no media attention over here. My love affair for it started back in 2011 when I attended my first professional football game which was when Bedlington Terriers (current members of Northern League Division Two) came to my hometown of Buffalo, New York to play a friendly against my hometown team FC Buffalo of the NPSL (fourth tier of US Football).

Despite FC Buffalo winning 5-1, I knew the non-league scene was for me. From that point on I watched as much non-league football made available to me, which wasn’t much, but included me getting an FC Buffalo season ticket which I have kept since 2013. I’ve also invested in the Real Oviedo shareholders program just because I couldn’t see a football team die.

I’m very excited for what this season has to offer and I’m very excited to cover Morpeth Town on their journey to much more silverware this season. I hope you will enjoy my perspective of all this season’s events from my point of view in the states.

Lastly, I’m eternally grateful for this opportunity and I’m excited to get to know and work with many of you. If you want to see more of my work or talk some football, follow me on Twitter, @JonathanMolik.

Until next time, COME ON THE HIGHWAYMEN!

God Bless,

Jonathan Molik (USA Correspondent)
