Morpeth Town are delighted to announce our first signing of the summer after goalkeeper Dan Lowson joined ahead of our first season in Evo-Stik North.

The stopper re-joins The Highwaymen after a spell on loan at Craik Park midway through last season in which he made six appearances, keeping two clean-sheets in the process.

Following spells at Alfreton Town, Luton Town, Ilkeston and Blyth Spartans, the experienced 30-year-old signed for Spennymoor Town, where he featured consistently with a string of impressive displays. Lawson is also known for his length-of-the-pitch goal in an FA Cup tie.

An impressive stint at Morpeth, in which he saved a last-minute spot-kick to secure victory against Jarrow Roofing, left an impression on those at the club and the fans which prompted action in the summer transfer window.

“I met with Nicky and Ken a couple of times,” the keeper told Morpeth Town’s website.

“The projects and the ideas are exciting. I am joining Morpeth at the same level I joined Spenny and I had a very successful time there, so I am hoping to replicate that.

“Being here before gives you a good idea of what it is going to be like. I already knew a couple of the lads; it did play a big part in my decision.”
