Morpeth Town welcome West Auckland to Craik Park for a clash of the top two sides in the league.

In what is an eagerly anticipated meeting of the leading sides in EBAC Northern League Division One, goals could be the order of the day based on the free-scoring exploits of both teams.

SNAPSHOT PREVIEW

FORM: West Auckland have been in outstanding goal-scoring form of late, netting 37 times in just 11 matches, at a rate of over three per game. No-one else in Division One comes close, with Morpeth the next highest scorers with 29. But the visitors have wavered a little in recent outings with two wins, two draws and two losses in their last six. Morpeth, however, have hit top spot and not looked back, dropping points in only two games this campaign, while amassing an impressive seven victories to date. Conceding only seven goals in their last six games, Morpeth will prove a difficult opponent to break down.

LAST GAME: An upturn in fortunes saw them record a 3-1 win over Marske United, an impressive result given the hosts hadn’t lost in the league this season prior to the midweek clash. Amar Purewal bagged a brace with Nathan Fisher wrapping up the win late on. Morpeth have been equally impressive, brushing aside the challenge of Washington in a 4-1 victory at Craik Park. A brace from Sean Taylor, and a goal apiece from Joe Walton and Curtis Coppen, ensured a comfortable win for the Highwaymen.

ONE TO WATCH: Nathan Fisher is on a goal-den run of form at the moment and already has 15 league goals for the season (his side have only played 11!). The Middlesbrough youth academy product has an eye for goal and is clearly enjoying life in Division One after joining from Spennymoor. For the hosts, Sean Taylor chipped in with a double from the left wing in the win against Washington. His input from midfield will be vital during the season with supporters hoping for more goals from the winger against West.

WHERE TO WATCH: The game will be played at Craik Park on Saturday, with a 3pm kick-off. Tickets are £6 for adults, £4 concessions and £1 for children. Members of Morpeth Town Juniors get free entry.
