Game Notes

After a disappointing start to their Northern League campaign, Morpeth Town will be looking to bounce back in their opening home game at Craik Park.

The Highwaymen suffered a 3-2 defeat to Newcastle Benfield on Saturday, with the deciding goal coming through Paul Brayson‘s controversial spot-kick.

However, they welcome in-form Consett on Wednesday evening, a side that is unbeaten so far this season.

They won their opening match of the season in the FA Cup before an astonishing 7-0 rout of Ashington.

That was followed by a 3-3 draw with newly-promoted South Shields, who came from 3-1 down in the game to snatch a point thanks to Jon Shaw‘s late equaliser.

Morpeth were without the ever-influential Ben Sayer on Saturday, and he was a big miss to the side, but the team weren’t at their usual best.

After the game Paul Robinson and Dave Malone echoed that, and they also stated that the side need to bounce back against Consett.
