Game Notes

Morpeth Town progressed through to the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup, the furthest they’ve been in the competition for three years.

The 1-0 win over North Shields was hard-fought, and after Michael Chilton score what turned out to be the winning goal, the visitors were made to work hard and defend.

However, their attention now turns to the Northern League, and picking up another three points, which would be their first away points this season.

The Highwaymen were beaten 3-2 against Newcastle Benfield in their only other away game, but have won their last two games against tough opposition.

On Tuesday night they travel to face West Auckland Town, who managed to get one over on Morpeth at the back end of last season.

Town won 3-1 on that night, but it was at a time when the Highwaymen were playing Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Monday that week.

Saturday seen the return of midfielder Ben Sayer, and Nick Gray and Dave Malone have a full squad to choose from when they travel to The Wanted Stadium.
