In the long winter break, Morpeth Town captured the signing of Polish midfielder Mattie Halambiec from Chrobry Głogów.

The midfielder was at the club eight years ago as a centre forward before moving to his native Poland to play professionally for Głogów.

During his time in his home country he made over 120 appearances scoring 15 goals before returning to the Highwaymen.

Equally adept with both feet, Mattie was straight into the squad for his debut against high-flying South Shields, netting twice to help Morpeth to the Fourth Round of the FA Vase.

He’ll be in contention for Saturday’s crucial FA Vase Quarter-Final against Bristol Manor Farm.
