Morpeth Town have officially released their 2017 pre-season schedule and they’ll start by taking on Scottish League Two side Berwick Rangers.

Nick Gray and Dave Malone’s side will be tested against John Coughlin’s men, who finished eighth in their division last season, on Saturday, July 8.

Northern League Division Two sides Alnwick Town and Blyth Town will be the next opposition for the Highwaymen, on Thursday, July 13, and Saturday, July 15 respectively.

Craik Park will play host to National League North outfit Spennymoor Town on Tuesday, July 18 before Morpeth travel to Ireland to take on Malahide United on Saturday, July 22.

Captain Keith Graydon, who spoke about the Irish outfit, said: “I think it’ll give us a different game, they will be a fit team and well organised.

“We have gone with a hard pre-season, with some really tough games, which will test us and will work our fitness levels against some good teams.”

Morpeth go up against Blyth Spartans, who they beat 4-2 in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round last season, at Croft Park on Tuesday, July 25.

The Highwaymen then turn their attention to the JR Cleator Cup, the first piece of silverware on offer in the 2017-18 season, with North Shields coming to Craik Park on Saturday, July 29.

Pre-Season will conclude with Gray and Malone taking their team to face Northern Alliance outfit Killingworth Town on Tuesday, August 1.

Graydon added: “I’m feeling good. We have a squad to compete for everything and that’s what we will be trying to do.

“I want to bring the league trophy to Craik Park.”
