Morpeth Town to donate prize money to 1874 Northwich

Morpeth Town would like to issue the following statement regarding the FA Vase prize money donation to 1874 Northwich:

“Morpeth Town rang the FA on Wednesday about the prize money. They asked the FA to send the prize money directly to 1874 Northwich. The FA informed that they would have to have an FA Vase committee meeting to discuss this option. They then asked if it would be easier to to get the money and send it on ourselves, which they said it would be. Bare in mind the money takes a while to be distributed from the FA.

“The club has contacted the 1874 Northwich secretary in regards to the situation,  there is no animosity between the two clubs.”

The club would also like to comment on reports they agreed to a Saturday replay initially:

“Morpeth Town made no indication that they would agree to a Saturday replay. Our secretary agreed to take the suggestion back to our committee, who decided against the notion.”
