The Highwaymen are out to maintain their position at the top of the tree in Division One when they welcome Sunderland Ryhope CW on Saturday.
A 3pm kick-off, Morpeth face a stern task but a crucial three points is on offer with former Manchester City, Sunderland and Republic of Ireland international Stephen Elliott set to make his home debut.

SNAPSHOT PREVIEW
FORM: Morpeth Town are a stingy bunch to say the least, conceding an average of one goal per game, including only three in their last five league outings. Only four teams have scored more than once against The Highwaymen this season (excluding cup outings) showing just how dominant Town have been at times in terms of possession. Adding a player in Elliott – who has scored regularly in the Premier League – to a team who already has Liam Henderson (13 league goals), Sean Taylor (10) and Joe Walton (8) and it is sure to be a busy afternoon for Sunderland Ryhope CW.
The latter have won only twice in their previous six league outings, but one of those was in midweek at the expense of Newcastle Benfield. An inconsistent team, Ryhope have beaten West Auckland Town and North Shields this season but lost to struggling Penrith, Washington and Team Northumbria too. A near 50% loss rate is far from ideal form but they perform better on their travels with the majority of their wins this season away from home (six from 11).
LAST GAME: Morpeth were part of an entertaining Division One clash at North Shields, earning a 1-1 draw in an action-packed game. After taking the lead through Liam Henderson on 32 minutes, Ben Harmison then restored parity for the Robins nine minutes later. In the final seconds of the clash, Dean Holmes struck a post for the hosts and Chris Reid was also sent off for two yellow cards for The Highwaymen as both sides gained a deserved share of the spoils.
Sunderland Ryhope CW earned victory on Tuesday night at the expense of Newcastle Benfield. Taking a 2-1 win at home – only their third home success of the campaign – the three points weren’t enough to move them above mid-table, where they have resided for the majority of the season.
ONE TO WATCH: Josh Home-Jackson has been in decent form for our next visitors with 12 goals in league and cup to date. A focal point for CW, Morpeth will need to be wary of his ability to find the back of the net if they are to secure three vital points.
WHERE TO WATCH: Craik Park, Morpeth.
