Morpeth Town head to Team Northumbria seeking to build a four-game winning streak in the EBAC Northern League Division One.

After battling to a 2-1 win at Washington last Saturday, The Highwaymen will be hoping to add another three points to their tally at Coach Lane.

SNAPSHOT PREVIEW

FORM: Team Northumbria are a mixed bag of a team on home soil, losing three but winning four of their seven league games to date. Scoring only 10 but conceding eight, they are far from free-scoring but they keep things tight defensively at Coach Lane. Their previous six games at any venue supports the view of an inconsistent side with three wins and three losses. Which Team Northumbria turns up is anyone’s guess.

Morpeth, however, are beginning to move into gear. Following minor blips, they have recorded three straight league wins and are looking to add to a 10-game unbeaten streak stretching back to the start of September. They inched past the 50 goals scored mark last week and now average three goals per game, a staggering average after 17 league fixtures.

LAST GAME: Team Northumbria lost on Tuesday night, suffering a first round FA Vase exit at the hands of Runcorn Linnetts. Playing on the road, Team Northumbria fell behind on 25 minutes to a Kris Holt near-post finish. Mark Houghton doubled the advantage for the hosts on 38 minutes before Danny O’Brien made it 3-0 from the penalty spot. Trailing at the break, Team Northumbria showed more in the second half and reduced the arrears through Robbie Spence and Angelia Eleftheardis. But it wasn’t enough as they exited the competition.

Morpeth haven’t played since last Saturday but it was a hard-fought contest at Washington. Battling against wind, rain and a spirited opposition, Town came out on top 2-1. Chris Reid opened the scoring from close range on 21 minutes prior to Sean Taylor’s cross being turned into his own net by Michael Laws in the 69th minute. Laws provided some consolation for his side in stoppage time but it wasn’t enough to prevent Morpeth winning successive away games.

ONE TO WATCH: Limited online content is available when talking about Team Northumbria, but Ben Dibb-Fuller has an eye for the spectacular goal when given the opportunity.
