With Christmas just days away, Morpeth Town are hoping to deliver plenty of festive cheer when they welcome Dunston UTS to Craik Park on Saturday (3pm).

This will be the last chance to watch the Highwaymen before Christmas Day so come on down and use the clubhouse facilities – Morpeth Town kit is available to purchase – and, hopefully, cheer Town to victory.

SNAPSHOT PREVIEW
FORM: Morpeth added to an impressive unbeaten streak with an unpredictable win at Consett last time out. A spate of postponements has given the squad a chance to recover and welcome back some players from injury, including Joe Walton and Sean Taylor, meaning Town are nearing full strength ahead of Saturday’s game where Morpeth will look to add to a run of one loss in 18 outings. Goals are flowing freely for the Craik Park outfit, scoring three or more in their previous three games.

Dunston UTS are a team designed for an away day. Six losses in 10 league games at home doesn’t sound spectacular but on the flip side they have recorded a mightily impressive eight wins in 11 games on the road in Division One. They’ve only lost at Stockton Town and Bishop Auckland in the league with 11 goals conceded in 11 games. To highlight their threat, they hammered Shildon 4-1 away from home in their most recent encounter.
LAST GAME: In a topsy turvy game, Morpeth claimed three points at Consett in an eight-goal thriller. Town were trailing to Michael Sweet’s 35th minute header before David Carson’s first goal for the club was followed quickly by Mark Davison’s close-range strike as Morpeth turned a deficit into a half-time lead. Joe Walton extended the lead in the second half, but Sweet registered again before Chris Reid slammed a cross-shot into the far corner. Winning 4-2, Town then conceded again as substitute Michael Mackay reduced the deficit. But Liam Henderson had the final say, smashing a shot into the back of the net after a deflected clearance put him clean through on goal.
Dunston UTS recorded an equally impressive result at Shildon, one of the title chasers of Division One. Boasting a strong record on the road, Dunston emphasized that with a resounding 4-1 win, inflicting Shildon’s second home loss of the league campaign.
ONE TO WATCH: Mark Fitzpatrick has an ominous record in front of goal so far this season. Fifteen league goals already, give Fitzpatrick a chance and he’ll take it. Morpeth have been warned.
