It will be a day that will go down in Morpeth Town folklore as they broke a record and equalled two as they beat Marske United 4-2 at Craik Park.

The Highwaymen have surpassed the home points tally of Spennymoor Town’s back in the 2013-14 season – which was a 44-game campaign – as they picked up their 20th home win in 21 games.

Morpeth have equalled the record for most home league goals in a Northern League season, taking their tally up to 79 against Marske – North Shields had the same total in 2013-14 in Division Two.

The final record that Nick Gray and Dave Malone’s side equalled is the most goals scored in a 42-game season, and they need a single goal on Tuesday night against Newton Aycliffe to surpass Shildon’s total of 135 from the 2015-16 season.
