Morpeth eased to a comfortable home win as they maintained their lead at the top of EBAC Northern League Division One.
Both strikers got in on the scoring act against Ryhope CW, Mark Davison setting Town on their way in the third minute before Liam Henderson added to that advantage on the hour mark prior to doubling his tally for the day in stoppage time.
Morpeth stuck largely with the team that started at North Shields the previous week, with Stephen Elliott on the bench alongside Wayne Phillips, who was replaced by Jordan Fry.
Town began brightly and swarmed all over Ryhope, with early chances being created down the left hand side through Fry.
Henderson was first to have a go on two minutes, but, after chesting it down, his low drive was pushed clear by Ryhope keeper Jonathan Ball. Then came the first goal of the game 60 seconds later.
Fry was creator-in-chief, cutting in from the left flank before releasing Davison clean through on goal. The striker needed no second invitation, slotting home despite the keeper getting a hand on it.
The former then crossed once more for the latter but Davison’s glanced header flew past the far post as Morpeth threatened a second goal.
Then came Ryhope’s first chance of the game on eight minutes. The team in red and white piled forward, with James Ellis on the charge. The striker created space on the edge of the 18-yard box and smashed an unstoppable dipping drive which thundered off the bar and, thankfully, wide of danger.
Morpeth were still looking a massive threat down the flanks, with David Carson and Fry being afforded far too much space.
Then, as the visitors found their feet in the contest, the game hit a bit of a lull with both sides looking vulnerable to a quick counter. But a Ben Sayer through ball straight through the heart of the Ryhope defence was just too heavy for Henderson to get on the end of as the half hour mark passed with no more additions to the score-sheet.
Despite their dominance of possession, Morpeth suffered a 40th minute scare when Thomas Bott cut in from the left flank and forced a smart stop from Town keeper Karl Dryden.
But Town would have the final chance of the half, David Carson driving low from 20 yards only for keeper Ball to push it past the post.
Town started the second period with the same quick-out-of-the-blocks attitude of the first half. Three minutes in and Davison was sniffing another goal but his free header from eight yards went past the post before his vicious drive cannoned back off the post before hitting the keeper and going wide.
It was his strike partner Henderson who would get on the scoresheet next, the forward latching on to Phillips’ looping deflected shot before slotting through the legs of the keeper.
After that it was all Morpeth, with Elliott being denied on two occasions moments after coming off the bench. The first of these arrived on 69 minutes when his shot was deflected over the top. The former Republic of Ireland international then clipped the bar seconds later with a delicate chipped effort as his search for a first goal for The Highwaymen continued.
Phillips then went close for the home side as he attacked from the right flank on 73 minutes but his low shot was tipped clear by Ball. Then, three minutes later, Town turned on the class when a ball across the box from Elliott was left by Henderson, allowing David Carson to fire inches past the post.
Skipper Keith Graydon flicked a driven Joe Walton cross goalwards eight minutes later, but a smart stop with the feet by Ryope goalkeeper Jonathan Ball prevented the Irishman from finding the back of the net.
Ryhope did have time to reduce the arrears, an 88th minute deflected Adam Cocks effort finding the back of the net. But Morpeth responded when the keeper was caught out of position, allowing Henderson to lob him from 40 yards and seal their ninth home league win of the campaign.
Town are next in action when they travel to Sunderland RCA (7.30pm) on Tuesday night for the rearranged clash which had been abandoned mid-game last time due to fog.
