Morpeth Town managed to pick up four points from Shildon last season, with the win coming earlier in the season at Craik Park.

Since 1996, the two sides have played each other 30 times, and the overall record couldn’t be any close. Morpeth and Shildon have won 10 games apiece, and have drawn 10 times.

Michael Chilton and Paul Robinson helped the Highwaymen claim a 2-1 victory last September, while the sides drew 2-2 at Dean Street in February.

Morpeth were caught behind an accident on the way to the game and arrived late to the ground, but were only given minutes to get changed and get out onto the pitch.

However, Nick Gray and Dave Malone’s side took the lead on the half-hour mark, after finding their way in the game, through Liam Henderson.

Sean Taylor also got on the scoresheet that night, but two penalties rescued a point for the Railwaymen at Dean Street.

The first meeting between the two sides was back in 1996, according to the Northern League records, and ended in a 3-1 win for Morpeth.

Youngster Lewis Wing has been revealed as a Middlesbrough player, a big blow to Shildon, who have brought in a few players this summer.

Former Middlesbrough academy player Anthony Peacock was the first singing of the summer, while ex-Workington defender Kyle May and former Gateshead forward Cameron Fenton have also signed for Shildon.

The Highwaymen were unbeaten in their first six games against the Railwaymen – winning five and drawing one – and their largest margin of victory was in September 2008, as they won 5-0.

Morpeth and Shildon are set to meet at Craik Park on Saturday, 4 November and then against at Dean Street on Saturday, 24 March in the 2017-18 season.
