PIC: John Hunter (pictured left) was a staunch supporter of the club.

Morpeth Town are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of John Hunter.

A loyal and long-standing volunteer, he was often seen on match days either manning the ticket booth or helping out with the half-time hospitality. John was a great servant to the club and will be fondly remembered by all who met him.

The club would like to release the following statement:

On behalf of Morpeth Town’s committee, players, management and supporters, we would like to pass on our sincerest condolences to the family of John Hunter. It was an honour to have known John, as a friend and also as a hard-working and passionate volunteer. He was a terrific person to know and will be truly missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts are with his family at this tragic time.

Morpeth Town will be observing a minute’s silence before our game with Sheffield FC on Saturday, with the players donning black armbands as a mark of respect.
