After Saturday’s clinical 2-0 victory over Sheffield F.C. we look back at three things learned from that game.

1. We had a very famous special visitor.

Ray Kennedy was a very special visitor to Craik Park on Saturday. The former Arsenal and Liverpool star who won the league 5 times and the European Champions Cup 3 times in his spell with Liverpool was on hand to help present the Man of the Match awards on Saturday.

2. David Carson was on top form.

Carson was like a walking advert for Gillette with his precision and accuracy on Saturday. His range of passing was top quality, but he saved the best for his free kick which sealed the points for the Highwaymen. When Wayne Phillips was chopped down 25yrds from goal, Carson stepped up and curled an effort over the wall and into the top corner. Jonathan Hedge could only look on like every supporter in Craik Park as the ball hit the back of the net.

3. Some things are more important than football

The club was devastated to learn of the passing of staunch volunteer John Hunter. A familiar face around Craik Park for many a year, John will be missed by everyone. As a mark of respect on Saturday, there was a minute’s silence and the players wore black armbands. Off the field, the committee laid flowers, where John was often stood watching the game.
