Morpeth Town’s Joe Walton has turned into an internet sensation with over 1 million views of his goal.
After scoring the winning goal against Marske United – a stunning volley on the turn – on October 11th, the wonder strike has gone viral with a number of big media and sports outlets highlighting the strike on their social media channels.
SoccerAM, ESPN and Copa90 have delivered the strike to a global audience through Facebook and Twitter, with YouTube also boosting views of a goal that will live long in the memory.
Most recently, ITV Tyne Tees news made the goal part of their sports round-up on the evening news slot.
“It was a tremendous goal and a fitting end to a quality game of football between two of the best teams in the league,” said joint Morpeth Town boss Nick Gray.
“Joe is capable of that kind of thing and it was a special goal at a crucial moment for us.”
