When speaking with new Morpeth Town midfielder Sean Reid, one word that is repeatedly used is ambition.
The former Blyth Spartans man left Croft Park following a season which yielded 15 goals in National League North (and other cup competions).
He joins the Highwaymen as they take their first ever step in the Evo-Stik Premier Division, and he can’t wait to get started.
“Nicky (Gray, manager) and Jon (Mcdonald, assistant manager) rang to meet up,” said the xx-year-old.
“They said all the right things to me and I was impressed with the direction Morpeth are going.”
Some critics may point to a step down in division, but for Reid the ambition of the club means they are looking much higher up the league structure as Morpeth continue to rise through the divisions.
“I wasn’t worried at all about stepping down a division,” added Reid.
“I get to play football at the end of the day and, most importantly, I believe in this team to succeed.”
Regular goalscorer and hard working, Reid will be a huge asset to the Highwaymen next season in a league which he has played in, winning the title as part of a Spartans side which dominated.
“The crucial part of this league is that you don’t underestimate your opponent, no matter where they are in the league,” he concluded.
“Every game is different, every game is tough.”
