Morpeth Town manager Nick Gray has met the news of the league being declared null and void with a pragmatic understanding.
The Highwaymen boss had his side perched on the edge of the play-offs in the NPL Premier Division, with a number of games in hand, as well being safely through to the final of the Northumberland Senior Cup and the quarter-final of the League Cup.
However, Coronavirus put the league on hold, before the FA took the decision to end the campaign altogether, with all results expunged from the record. But for Gray, it’s all about perspective as our country goes through a surreal, troubling time.
“Let’s put things in perspective; there’s a lot more pressing issues with people’s lives at present, let’s just hope our loved ones are safe to enjoy another football season. The FA’s announcement is disappointing news for everyone. Every team’s efforts are to no avail but with no-one at this point being guaranteed promotion or relegation, it’s probably the only solution they could come to.”
Gray told the club’s website.
