Morpeth Town make the trip to sixth in the table Radcliffe in their latest Pitching In NPL Premier Division fixture.

The Highwaymen haven’t played since their 3-1 win over Ashton United on 13th September so will be eager to continue a good run of form in the league.

LAST TIME OUT

Radcliffe have won a Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy clash since their last league outing, but the latter ended in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Stafford Rangers, with Adam Livingstone doing the damage in the 42nd minute with the only goal of the game.

Morpeth secured three points in their last league fixture, beating Ashton United at Craik Park. The Highwaymen were three to the good by the 50th minute, thanks to Jack Foalle’s opener after 43 seconds, which was added to by Chris Reid on the stroke of half-time. Dale Pearson netted his third of the campaign on 50 minutes, before Sam Baird reduced the arrears late on.

THE GAFFER

Morpeth Town manager Craig Lynch is expecting a tougher challenge than the scorelines from last season might reflect when the Highwaymen beat Radcliffe 3-1 and 5-1 at the Neuven Stadium.

“It’s another tough test on Saturday with playing a strong Radcliffe team,” he said.

“They strengthened well in the summer, bringing in players with vast experience. Although the score lines last season were considerably in our favour, I don’t feel like the games themselves reflected that, with them being tight up to a point.

“I do feel, this season, Radcliffe are a different team and it’ll be another massive result if we come away with the points.”

Radcliffe boss Bobby Grant is keen to see his team get in that scoring groove after a convincing win in the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy in midweek.

“We’ve got to be ruthless, lads need to get that scoring feeling and when you score goals it breeds confidence,” said Grant after a 3-0 win over AFC Darwen on Tuesday night.

“You want to win the next game. We will prepare properly, we’ll recover and go again and look forward to another home game against Morpeth.”
