Morpeth Town manager Craig Lynch was delighted to secure the signatures of Sam Hodgson and Will Jenkins until the end of the season.

The South Shields pair had been on loan until December 31st after joining in the closing days of pre-season.

Both have impressed, with Hodgson netting 12 goals and leading the goalscoring charts at Craik Park, while Will Jenkins has been a driving force in the middle of the park, registering 10 assists so far in a productive campaign in the Pitching In NPL Premier Division.

The Highwaymen are four games unbeaten heading into Boxing Day and a clash with Whitby Town, with Lynch sure the commitment shown by Hodgson and Jenkins, by penning new temporary deals, will boost a squad already brimming with confidence.

“We are delighted to secure both lads for the remainder of the season,” said the Morpeth Town boss.

“Many thanks to South Shields, firstly for trusting us with the progression of the two players but also for allowing the deal to be extended.

“Both lads have been a pleasure to work with and have again progressed their games to a new level.

“Will had a very successful full season with Dunston last year so moving up to the next level, and keeping that level of consistency, was important for him. He has done that so far.

“Sam, last season, bounced through three different leagues and I think, for him, stability and confidence was key.

“He has found that with us, probably playing more minutes already than in all of his senior games put together, which is testament to him and his work-rate and desire.

“We are delighted to keen them with us and hopefully it’s a very positive second half of the season.”
