The only winner at the weekend was the weather as Morpeth Town’s clash with Stockton Town was put on ice by the freezing temperatures.

Tomorrow they travel to Consett for a re-arranged fixture and one that is sure to be a cracker of a Division One clash.

SNAPSHOT PREVIEW

FORM: Consett are rampant at home most recently, scoring 13 goals in their last three games, including a trio in a humbling of Shildon. They haven’t lost at home since the tail end of September and have only been beaten twice all season on their own backyard. As previously mentioned, Shildon have lost at the Belle View Stadium and so too have North Shields which only highlights the quality of our next hosts. Their 11 league goals conceded at home to date is the second-best record in the division, behind only Morpeth Town.

The Highwaymen have a 70% win rate on the road in Division One and have lost the fewest games out of anyone (tied with Marske United). The key to this? 26 goals in just 10 games will have something to do with it. Town have only played once in nearly three weeks, a factor which should leave them fresh for the encounter on Tuesday night.

LAST GAME: It doesn’t get much better than a 7-1 victory. Playing in the League Cup second round, Consett trounced Tow Law Town at home to ensure safe passage through to the next round of the competition.

Morpeth’s last game was an entertaining one at Craik Park as they beat North Shields for the third time this season to progress into the semi-finals of the Techflow Group Senior Cup. After trailing early on to Ben Harmison’s strike, Town roared back with Keith Graydon netting from the spot before Michael Turner’s composed finish on 24 minutes. They extended that advantage in the second half through Liam Henderson before Gareth Bainbridge set up a tense finale with a late consolation for the visitors.

ONE TO WATCH: Michael Sweet is a striker bang in form with 12 league goals to date. The focal point for Consett attacks, the forward is lethal with the ball at his feet and is definitely one for the Morpeth back-line to watch closely on Tuesday night.

WHERE TO WATCH: Belle View Stadium, Consett.
