EBAC Northern League Division One

Morpeth Town 2-1 Newcastle Benfield

Morpeth Town 0-2 Newton Aycliffe

Morpeth Town 3-0 Washington

Morpeth Town 1-3 West Auckland Town

A mixed bag of results has seen Morpeth Town’s title challenge go out the window with four games in seven days proving too much for the Highwaymen, winning two and losing two in the time frame.

It started so well as goals from Keith Graydon and Sean Taylor were too much for Enfield, but this was followed by a 2-0 defeat to Newton Aycliffe, John Cambell taking his season tally against Town to five in two games with a brace.

The Highwaymen returned to form with a 3-0 win over Washington, a Luke Carr double and a fantastic finish by Taylor securing the points.

The defeat to West Auckland Town was a hard one to take, ‘peth taking the lead on 28 minutes with a Dale Pearson. The visitors, however, netted twice against the run of play before the half to go into the interval with the lead. A third was added mid-way through the second period, with Morpeth dominating the game but not taking their chances.
