Morpeth Town are delighted to announce the signing of Sam Hodgson on a permanent deal from Blyth Spartans.
The striker, who has netted 32 goals in 64 appearances across three loan spells for the Highwaymen, has penned a two-year deal and becomes the club’s fourth signing of the summer.
Hodgson, formerly of South Shields before his stint at Blyth, had been courted by other regional clubs but opted for Morpeth and a more permanent stint with Craig Lynch’s squad.
Looking ahead to a new season, the 23-year-old was pleased to sign at Craik Park, a place that feels like home.
“I’m buzzing to finally be settled here as it feels like home,” said Hodgson.
“I feel as though the way last season left off, I’ve got unfinished business and I want to right my wrongs with a great group of lads and management.
“Hopefully we can push on from last season and get into the play-offs.”
Highwaymen boss Craig Lynch was delighted to finally secure Hodgson’s signature and once again work with a forward who has shown his worth in goals during previous spells.
“We are delighted to sign Sam permanently after three loans with us,” said the Morpeth boss.
“We know what Sam’s about after scoring 25 goals in his first full season with us and then had two brief loan spells where we brought him back to enjoy his football again.
“Making him permanent is massive for us. To have him and Nic (Bollado) – our two top goal scorers from the last two seasons – alongside Luke (James) gives us three great options for the season, all now permanent Morpeth players.
“This transfer could not have been completed without the help of the 1884 Club, and sponsorship, a scheme which has helped us to keep competing in a tough league.
“We sincerely appreciate their support and would encourage more people to get involved with the 1884 Club as it continues to grow.”
