Morpeth Town winger Sean Taylor has called on his team-mates to deliver end of season trophy glory to repay the fantastic support of the club’s fans this season.
A total of 5,635 supporters have watched Morpeth at Craik Park, at an average of 208 for each of the 27 home games in league and cup to date. That is a phenomenal amount considering the amount of rearranged midweek games, which undoubtedly are harder for fans to get to because of work and family commitments.
But The Highwaymen have a chance to thank their fans for the ongoing support when they play Newcastle United Under-23s at St James’ Park in the final of the Techflow Group Senior Cup final (7.30pm).
“I think we should repay the fans by giving them some silverware,” said midfielder Taylor, the longest-serving player at the club.
“It’s a massive game and we have got all our friends and family coming. There’s a lot of pressure on us and I think we have got to win this. We have had pressure all season as we were favourites for most of the competitions we have entered but as we head into the final few games of the season, we know this one is still up for grabs. It would be great if we could win at St James’; what better way to say thanks to the fans than that?”
Tickets are available on the gate; go to the East Stand turnstiles for access; £7 adults and £3 concessions.
