Chris Reid has received some positive news on his injury which has ruled him out since the Brighouse Town game.
After visiting A&E straight after the Brighouse Town game, he was told he had suffered a shoulder dislocation/relocation. He had an MRI scan in Darlington on Tuesday and then today had a consultation with a leading shoulder specialist based in Manchester and received good news.
Sports Therapist Steven Shaw gave the following update, “We’d feared the worst after his original hospital visit and was expecting surgery with a possible 3 – 5 months out but he’s had relatively excellent news that he has suffered a grade 3 ligament tear of his AC joint which doesn’t require surgery.
“I’d like to thank some excellent practitioners that I could call on Tony Tompos (Aberdeen 1st Team Physiotherapist) and Jo Gibson (Shoulder Rehab Specialist) for advice with both recommending a consultant & subsequent rehab. They both recommended shoulder specialist, Professor Lennard Funk who is based in Manchester. We made the journey down this morning and after looking at his MRI scan and doing some clinical examinations decided that surgery isn’t required and rehab with an anti-inflammation injection being sufficient which is great news.
“I can’t thank them enough for their help and advice, I’m very grateful that I have people like that in my network that I’m able to call on. We’re both extremely grateful to Ken (Morpeth Town Chairman) who has enabled us to get down to see experts and get everything resolved so quickly. It has without a doubt taken down the time getting Reidy (Chris Reid) back on the pitch down to weeks rather than months and we can’t thank him enough.”
