Morpeth Town is delighted to announce the signing of defender Josh King, who returns to Craik Park for the new campaign.
The centre-back had played a prominent role for the Highwaymen last season but departed after being given the chance to trial at a side two leagues above Town’s NPL East.
He will return for another season at Morpeth, with manager Craig Lynch pleased to see him back at the club.
“We are delighted to see Josh re-join for the new season. He had an opportunity to give it a go two leagues above, but circumstances meant it didn’t work out,” said the Morpeth boss.
“Luckily for us, the opportunity came round to re-sign him and it’s a great to have him back. He has done brilliantly in the league above and will be a great asset, as we already know, for the club.”
The former York City defender has been with the Highwaymen for four years, heading into his fifth campaign with a swift return to Step Three in his sights.
“The aim’s promotion – I can’t wait to get going,” said King.
“I was offered an opportunity to trial at a club in the National League divisions, which I couldn’t turn down. Unfortunately, due to an injury the trial was cut short.
“Being at the club for the past four years and knowing some of the staff for an even longer time always makes your choice easier.
“I know the style of football the manager wants to play and having a great dressing rooms helps.”
