Morpeth Town are delighted to confirm the signing of Sean Reid from Blyth Spartans.
The free-scoring midfielder joins the club as the Highwaymen lay down a statement of intent ahead of their debut season in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.
The 27-year-old has featured for Ryton and Crawcrook Albion, as well as West Allotment Celtic, during his career but it is his four years at the Spartans which has propelled him into the non-league spotlight, earning him a reputation as a highly-regarded box-to-box player who gives everything for the cause.
A threat from set-pieces, Reid netted 66 times for Blyth across 186 appearances. Still very much a prominent part of the Spartans squad, Morpeth are delighted to secure his signature.
“I feel like this club has ambition and a drive for success,” said the midfielder.
“Being a part of that sounds exciting.”
Town chairman Ken Beattie was delighted to see Reid join the cause for the new season.
“This is a real statement of intent on our part and we are delighted Sean has joined us,” said Beattie of a player who signed this afternoon.
“We’ve moved quickly to bring in a top-quality player who can add goals to a side which already has a fantastic scoring record.
“We’re confident he will be a valuable addition to the squad and one that can help us achieve our ambitions in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.”
Assistant manager Jon McDonald said the club was quick to act when they heard a deal could be possible.
“Sean is a player we have admired for some time,” he said.
“As soon as we learned Sean might be available, we didn’t hesitate. This represents an excellent signing.”
