Morpeth Town are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Stephen Turnbull.

The former Blyth Spartans midfielder, known for his composure and class in the middle of the park, signed on the dotted line following the thrilling 3-2 win over Marske United. He will be available for selection, pending league approval, for Saturday’s trip to Penrith.

Chairman Ken Beattie couldn’t contain his delight at the capture of the former Hartlepool United man.

“He is going to give this side a boost, a real lift,” said Beattie.

“We have only got 17 outfield players in the squad. He is going to come into a team who are missing players through suspension and injury so he is a great signing to add to the squad.

“The time to sign a player is when you are doing well, not when you’re not doing well.”

A long-time admirer, Beattie was delighted that all the efforts of the club have finally paid off in the pursuit of Turnbull.

We have been talking to him for a few months,” added the Morpeth chairman.

“We’ve been texting, emailing and been in contact all the time. You’ve got to for a player of that ability – I’m a very happy chairman.”
