Morpeth Town welcome Liversedge to Craik Park for a Pitching In NPL Premier Division clash between two sides struggling for form.

The Highwaymen are perched just outside the relegation zone, while Saturday’s visitors are mired deep in said dropzone.

LAST TIME OUT

Morpeth suffered a narrow and cruel defeat at the hands of Guiseley last time out. Drawing 0-0 heading deep into stoppage time, a penalty for hosting Guiseley was saved by keeper Dan Lowson before the follow up was dispatched to condemn the Highwaymen to defeat.

Liversedge did not enjoy home comforts, a regular occurrence this season, as they fell to a humbling 3-0 loss at the hands of fellow strugglers Whitby Town.

Jacob Day and Harrison Beeden had the visitors off to a flier before Day added another with eight minutes to go to add gloss to the scoreline.

THE GAFFER

Morpeth boss Craig Lynch is eager to use a break in the fixture list to his side’s advantage, using it as a chance to reset.

“Sometimes a break can allow a reset especially when you’re out of form,” said the Town boss.

“But it was an uncertain week with our Senior Cup game being postponed on Tuesday. Everyone has been scraping around trying to find any facility to train or do cardio this week.

“Liversedge, today, will be another tough test. The league this year has shown anyone is capable of beating anyone.

“We took some positives from the Guiseley game and need to back them up with points now.”

Although light on quotes, Liversedge’s headline news this week saw them lose Zak Dearnley, the striker making the switch to NPL Premier Division rivals Guiseley.

But they have extended the loan of Bradford City youngster Bobby Pointon to the end of the season after he made a positive impact during his temporary stay at the club.
