The Highwaymen make their longest away journey of the campaign when travelling to Stafford Rangers in the Pitching In NPL Premier Division.

The visit to Marston Road sees both sides still concerned by relegation fears, as 14th welcomes 17th in the table.

FORM GUIDE

Morpeth: Their last six games have yielded three wins and three defeats for Morpeth Town. An all or nothing run of form, Town have won their last two and head into this one full of confidence. Only Markse United have drawn fewer league games this season than the Highwaymen, who will be eager to add to their three league wins on their travels this season.

Stafford Rangers: Our hosts are unbeaten in four league games with two wins and two draws. That has pushed them seven points clear of the drop but they’ll still be looking over their shoulders heading into the closing stages of the campaign.

LAST TIME OUT

Morpeth Town were on song as they booked a spot in the Senior Cup final with a 5-0 win over Whitley Bay on Tuesday night.

Andrew Johnson scored four times on the right, with Sam Fishburn opening the scoring on 13 minutes as the Highwaymen sailed through to the final.

Stafford didn’t have a game during midweek but were involved in an absolute cracker with Liversedge the previous Saturday. They’ll be disappointed with the outcome as they led three times, but were pegged back on each occasion, including conceding a 90th minute Ben Atkinson penalty. Influential midfielder Tom Tonks was also sent off for a second yellow card late on.

THE GAFFER

Morpeth Town boss Craig Lynch is pleased to see his squad bolstered by the extensions of the temporary deals for Connor Pye, Fenton John, and Matty Cornish until the end of the season.

“I’m delighted to have them all stay on until the end of the season,” he said.

“Along with Tom Chiabi, we’ve got good quality that gives us reinforcements all over the pitch. It’s going to be a big six weeks, so it is great to have those lads with us, giving us every chance of a strong end to the season.”

Stafford Rangers boss Matt Hill is seeking home comforts to continue an impressive run of form.

“We have been very good at home and our performances have been. We want to keep that going,” he said.

“The supporters are important as always, in those moments when you get tired you need them to keep you going and push you through.

“We dust ourselves down and go again and we will look to get the maximum points.”
