The Highwaymen have acted decisively in the transfer market, with the signing of Jack Robson.

The winger, who joins us from Hebburn Town, was placed on the transfer list at his own request this season. Full of quality and only 19 years of age, much is expected of the hugely talented former Newcastle United junior. Speaking of his switch, Robson was delighted to climb up the leagues as he seeks to fulfil his dream of becoming a professional footballer.

“I am massively looking forward to playing for Morpeth,” Robson told the club website.

“There will be new and bigger grounds, and a higher standard which I am more than confident I can step up to. This time last year it was my main goal to move up the leagues and this is a fantastic opportunity for me at a club which is going places.”

Manager Nick Gray was pleased to add Robson’s quality to an already formidable attacking line-up.

“Jack is a very young, exciting talent who has great feet, with electric pace,” he said.

“The promising thing about Jack is he has still got lots to learn and offer.”

The signing of Robson brings transfer movements to a total of four this week at Craik Park, with Michael McKeown’s departure earlier in the week being added to by Tom Potter, who joined Hebburn like McKeown, and Kris Thackray, who joins Blyth Spartans on a one-month loan. When discussing the latter’s move, Town manager Gray was hopeful it would work out for everyone concerned.

“Kris has come in and done well but he got an injury at a bad time,” said the Highwaymen boss.

“We feel Kris getting valuable minutes at a good club, playing against tough opposition, will benefit him, us and Blyth.”
