Morpeth Town can confirm talented striker Josh Scott has joined the club ahead of the new season.

The impressive striker, who came through the ranks at Hartlepool United before joining Mansfield Town on a two-year deal, has had temporary spells at Kettering Town, Basford United, and Mickleover in recent times before returning to the North East.

The Hartlepool-born attacker adds another dimension to a well-stocked forward line consisting of fellow new signings Dale Pearson and Connor Thomson, as well as Jack Foalle and Andrew Johnson when the latter returns from a shoulder injury.

With goals high up on the agenda, Josh is keen to get started, beginning at Warrington Town tomorrow afternoon.

He said: “The quality and atmosphere of the squad when I came in was class. I spoke to the manager a couple of times and how they want to play and what they want to achieve is something I want to be part of.

“I’m a striker that likes to hold the ball up, link the play and get in the box. Also, to work hard, press from the front and try to set the intensity for the team.

“All I want to do is play as many games as I can and show people what I can do through goals, assists and how I play.

“All the lads have welcomed me in and there’s a real buzz around the training ground. I can’t wait for the season to start.”

Manager Craig Lynch was delighted to secure another addition to his squad ahead of opening day.

He said: “Josh was someone that I have been aware of throughout pre-season but he had other opportunities at the time from different clubs.

“When Josh became available to us, it was a great chance to look at him. Josh showed us the kind of attributes that I look for in a centre forward and, with only being 20, will be sure to keep getting better and better and definitely benefit the team.”

Scott is available for selection for tomorrow’s trip to Warrington Town in the season opener, with full match commentary available on Highwaymen Radio via our Mixlr page. Free of charge, and available through mobile and computer, the broadcast starts at 2.55pm.
