Following the comfortable 3-0 victory over Gresley on Saturday to get the Highwaymen back to winning ways, we take a look at three things we learned from that game.

1. Jordan Fry is a very reliable player.

Jordan may not have seen the most minutes from some of the players this season but he is the model of consistency. Taking a leaf out of Joe Walton’s book, Fry was fantastic at right back in a position that is not normally where we are accustomed to seeing him. He didn’t put a foot wrong and was very close to being Man of the Match.

2. Hospitality from Gresley is the best bar none.

We were fortunate enough to get the better of Gresley on the pitch but every single of their staff, players, committee and supporters were superb. They had been in touch through the week wanting to know numbers so that they could feed our supporters following the hospitality that they had received at Morpeth. A real touch of class.

3. Ben Sayer is just quality.

Sayer picked up the Man of the Match award from Gresley on Saturday not only from the travelling Highwaymen supporters but also from the home side. Every single blade of grass was covered as Sayer dropped deep to collect the ball before launching attack after attack. He may not have got on the score sheet but he did register yet another assist providing the ball into the box from Micky Turner’s goal.
