Morpeth Town have added Dale Walker to the coaching staff at Craik Park, taking on the role of goalkeeping coach vacated by Graeme Pickering.

The latter, who has featured twice for the Highwaymen this season, has joined Birtley Town on a dual contract to gain more minutes on the pitch. Walker, formerly of Aldershot Town, Newcastle United, Ashington and Whitley Bay among others, joins Morpeth after working with Jon McDonald at Blyth AFC before it folded. Walker then went on to grow his goalkeeping academy before Town boss Nick Gray came calling.

“Since the closure of Blyth AFC, I had committed to solely focus on my expanding Goalkeeping Academy,” Walker told the club website.

“However, I just couldn’t resist the move to the higher level. We have a hugely talented group of goalkeepers here and I look forward to helping every single one of them maximise their consistency. To be asked to come to a club of this stature is a real privilege and one that must never be taken for granted.”
